Local public health agencies across the state will be receiving Moderna COVID-19 vaccine prior to the end of 2020. Priority groups for local public health are identified with guidance from the state of MN.
The initial public health vaccine supply will go to persons in group Phase 1A – first priority, which for public health agencies includes community vaccinators, community testers and select emergency services personnel not covered through hospital systems. As additional vaccine is received, local public health agencies will move to Phase 1A – second priority, which includes assisted living facilities/housing with services not already covered and Phase 1A - third priority, to include additional health care workers and adult residents in intermediate care facilities. Plans are in place to vaccinate assigned priority groups in Phase 1A and for future phases as additional vaccine is becomes available.
As vaccine is received, this phased-in approach will be utilized to reach further into the community. Currently, we do not have a timeline to indicate when all vaccine doses will be available locally. We encourage everyone to be patient as the vaccine becomes available for more people and to continue to do those things that help protect yourself and others from COVID-19 such as wearing masks, social distancing, hand washing, and being tested.
