The Wadena County Veterans Services Officer performs such functions as acting as the veterans' primary advocate and resource and offers a wide variety of essential services for the county's veterans and dependents. Services Performed:
Counsels veterans about federal and state benefits as well as services to which they are entitled
Works with veterans to obtain proper documentation for applying for veterans benefits
Assists veterans with the application forms required to receive federal veterans benefits
Advises veterans about their opportunities and legal rights relative to various veterans preference laws and regulations
Works with various veterans organizations to provide financial assistance
Obtains assistance for medically necessary equipment for disabled veterans
Provides assistance to veterans' spouses and/or dependents to receive the various benefits to which they are entitled
Helps ensure survivors receive all the burial, death,
and Survivor benefits to which they are entitled
