This office manages the transportation and disposal of Solid Waste in Wadena County through several programs and facilities.
|
TRANSFER STATION:
This facility was newly constructed and fully operational in October, 1999, and is operated by the County. The purpose of the transfer station was to provide local haulers with a site within the County in which to dispose of the waste collected by their packer trucks, rather than transport it to another County's transfer station at a higher cost. The waste is then hauled by semi trailer loads to the Perham Resource Recovery Facility or to a Waste Management owned sanitary landfill where it is properly disposed.
Located at 10542 170th Street, Wadena, MN (2.5 miles north of Wadena on 11th Street North and .5 miles east on 170th Street)
RECYCLING CENTER:
This facility is a part of our transfer station. Waste Management is contracted by the County to provide transportation and marketing
of the recyclable products.
Located on 11th Street North going West out of Wadena on Highway 10.
Hours of operation:
Weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Saturdays 9:00-Noon
TOWNSHIP RECYCLING LOCATION:
Each township and municipality has a recycling location to which its residents can drop off recyclable items for monthly pickup by the local haulers.
DEMOLITION LANDFILL:
This facility is owned and operated by the County.
The landfill accepts only Wadena County demolition debris at a rate of $8.60 per cubic yard.
The demolition landfill is located directly behind the transfer station at 10542 170th Street, Wadena, MN (2.5 miles north of Wadena on 11th Street North and .5 miles east on 170th Street).
Hours of operation are: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. They are closed all weekends and also holidays as designated by the County Board of Commissioners.
