Friendly Rider Transit operates throughout the county and in adjacent townships to the west of Wadena providing services to the general population, and the elderly and disabled. Friendly Rider also provides transit services in the City of Staples in Todd County. Four, sixteen-passenger buses with lift capacity operate Monday through Friday, plus Sunday morning transportation is available in the city of Wadena. Buses pick up and return riders to their homes. The fares are
· $1.25 one way for 0-2 miles
· $2.50 one way for 2-9 miles
· $3.75 one way for over 9 miles
Books of 12 tickets can be purchased for $12.50. A 30-day pass is available for $30 for students and for senior citizens who are 60+ to purchase for unlimited 0-2 mile rides. A monthly family pass is available for $60 for unlimited 0-2 mile rides. Group rates are also available.
Public transit works in conjunction with the Wadena County Volunteer Driver Program.
