1. How do I get to the website?
Answer: Open up an internet browser window and type in the following address into the address bar http://www.co.wadena.mn.us/website/wadenapublic
Or click on the Wadena County Map link on under the Interactive Map section on the Wadena County Home Page
2. How do I search for a specific parcel number?
a. Answer: Click on the search tab. Type in the parcel number under the parcel number search.
Note: If you don’t know the complete parcel number type in as much of the parcel number as you know
Answer: There are
three different ways that you can select parcels. Make sure that the parcels
is
the selection layer.
a. Identify
a parcel: Use the zoom in tool
and the zoom out tool
to
zoom into an area. Then use the identify tool
and click on a
parcel.
b. Perform a parcel number search: Click on the search tab. Type in the parcel number under the parcel number search.
Note: If you don’t know the complete parcel number type in as much of the parcel number as you know
c. Perform a property address search: Click on the search tab. Type in the property under the property address search.
Note: If you don’t know the complete address type in as much of the address as you know
The selected parcels will appear on the map in a red color and general information about these parcels will appear under the REPORT tab
4. How do I retrieve a tax report about a specific parcel?
Answer: Select a
parcel either by identifying or performing a search. Click on the Report tab
to retrieve the results. Click the Report button
next to the parcel
number you wish to get a detailed report of. The report will generate an Adobe
Acrobat document.
Note: If you don’t have Adobe Acrobat, you will not be able to view the detailed parcel report. Go to www.adobe.com to download a free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader
5. What do I do if a parcel report doesn’t show up?
Answer: The reason that the report doesn’t show up is because your internet pop-up blocker is on. Turn off your internet pop-up blocker and the report will show up.
Answer: Using the zooming tools to zoom into a desired area. Then click on the Print Tab. Enter in a name for your map and select whether you want the Keep Current Extents or Keep Current Map Scale. Then click the OK button. The printable map will be generated in an Adobe Acrobat document.
Note: If you don’t have Adobe Acrobat, you will not be able to view the printable map. Go to www.adobe.com to download a free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader
7. How do I print a map at a specific scale?
Answer:
Using the zooming tools to zoom into a desired area. On the bottom of the map
enter the desired scale in the text box
. Then click on the Print Tab.
Enter in a name for your map and select Keep Current Map Scale. Then
click the OK button. The printable map will be generated in an Adobe
Acrobat document.
Note: If you don’t have Adobe Acrobat, you will not be able to view the printable map. Go to www.adobe.com to download a free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader
8. What do I do if a print map doesn’t show up?
Answer: The reason that the printable map doesn’t show up is because your internet pop-up blocker is on. Turn off your internet pop-up blocker and the printable map will show up.
9. How do I find the intersection of two roads?
Answer: Click on the Search Tab. The bottom search is a Road Intersection Location Search. Type in the names of the two streets you want to find the intersection for. If there is an intersection, a teal-colored cross will indicate where the intersection point is.
10. What do I do if I keep seeing the disclaimer over and over?
Answer: Your session into the website is over. Close your browser window and open up the map in a new browser window.
11. How do I Add and Remove Layers from the map?
Answer: Click on the layers tab. There will be a check box on the left side of all of the layers that can be turned on and off. To turn on a layer, check the checkbox next to the layers that you want to see and click the Refresh Map button. To turn off a layer, uncheck the checkbox next to the layers that do not want to see and click the Refresh Map button
12. How do I find the distance between two points on the map?
Answer:
Zoom into the area where the points are located. Click the Measure Tool
. A
box will appear in the upper right hand corner of the map

13. How do I zoom back to where I was just at?
Answer:
Click on the
button. This will zoom back to
the previous map extents.
14. How do I find the Latitude and Longitude values of a given point?
Answer:
Click on the
button. Then select a point on
the map. There will be a box that will appear in the upper right hand corner
of the map that displays the county coordinates for that point as well as the
Latitude and Longitude coordinates.
15. How do I see an overview of the map?
Answer:
Click on the
button. The overview map will
show up in the upper left hand corner of the map. There will be a red box
around the area where you are currently zoomed
into.

Note: To turn off of the overview map click the
button
again.
16. How do I clear selected features on the map?
Answer:
Click on the
button. All of the features
that were previously selected will no longer be selected.
